In yet another major initiative to strengthen Bahrain’s burgeoning FinTech ecosystem, Bahrain FinTech Bay is hosting the region’s first “Fintech for Sustainability Hackathon” in Feb 2019. Organized in collaboration with Benefit and Manama Hub for the Global Shapers Community, the month-long Hackathon is open to students from all universities in Bahrain.

One key objective of the joint venture is to teach students how to tap in on the growing FinTech sector in the Kingdom and beyond. It will simultaneously highlight the success and achievements of Bahraini startups and entrepreneurs operating in the country’s homegrown FinTech sector.

The program will see prominent industry experts educating participants about the different aspects of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), current FinTech trends, and viable ways for up-and-coming Bahraini businesses when it comes to linking the industry with sustainability.

“We are excited to host the first Fintech for Sustainability Hackathon in Bahrain at Bahrain Fintech Bay. This joint effort between us, Benefit and the Manama Hub will create opportunities for students to gain industry insights, understand sustainability more and address real industry challenges. This will help promote more awareness and innovation in Bahrain’s FinTech ecosystem” said Khalid Saad, CEO of Bahrain Fintech Bay.

Participants also stand the chance to win internship opportunities that will come handy for their future endeavors.

Meanwhile, Manama Hub will conduct a multi-day roadshow on the sidelines of the FinTech for Sustainability Hackathon 2019. The roadshow will visit universities across the Kingdom, encouraging students to sign up for the Hackathon.
