The Annual Banking Forum, announced by the Bahrain Association of Banks(BAB), and held under the patronage of the Central Bank Of Bahrain (CBB), is set to take place on October 31, 2018, at the Gulf Hotel, with a premier focus on the topic of FinTech, with “FinTech: Opportunities and Challenges” being the headline.

The event is expected to draw “more than 500 senior representatives”, including members from the Bahrain Association of Banks, various regulators, as well as local and international executives in the realms of monetary funds. With support from strategic partners, such as Al Baraka Banking GroupGulf International Bankthe National Bank of BahrainVenture Capital Bank, in addition to media partners, CNBC and IFN.

The forum itself will address issues relating to the banking industry and its ability to adapt and acclimate to the changes that FinTech brings to the financial sector. The event will commence with the Chairman of BAB, Adnan Ahmed Yousif, and will include a set of speakers such as CNBC Anchor, Nuha Al Ali, the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, Rasheed Al Maraj, the General Manager and CEO of Albaraka TurkMeliksah Utku, in addition to many industry leaders and influencers.

The discussions will range in topic from “The Relationship Between Banks and FinTechs”, all the way to “Fostering a Better FinTech Ecosystem”, with the experts chiming in from various institutions such as, American ExpressBahrain Chamber of CommerceBahrain Economic Development BoardBahrain FinTech BayGulf International Bank, and Tamkeen, amongst many others.

With the participation of “ a notable group of industry leaders and experts” at the forum, the CEO of BAB, Dr. Waheed Al Qassim added that he looks forward to seeing what the industry’s movers and shakers have to say, with FinTech “impacting Bahrain’s banking sector”, therefore the opportunities and challenges it presents need to be examined.
