Tamkeen announced that it is joining forces with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Bahrain Polytechnic, and the University of Bahrain (UoB) to launch two Cloud Innovation Centers (CICs).

The new initiative is aimed at expediting the rate of the digital transformation of the public sector in the Kingdom — or for that matter, the broader GCC region as well. Special emphasis will be put to ensure that the innovations coming of these new CICs are optimized to resolve real-life challenges while simultaneously empowering the homegrown entrepreneurial community to grab on to new opportunities.

Tamkeen’s broader objective with the new CICs is to further accelerate its ongoing cloud skills development program. To accomplish that, they will be providing students and faculty members in-depth insight into Amazon’s innovation processes in addition to allowing them access to state-of-the-art cloud computing resources and learning material.

Those successfully completing the program will require developing digital solutions for a range of challenges sponsored and submitted by public sector organizations in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Tamkeen CEO Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi commented: “Partnering with Amazon Web Services to establish the Cloud Innovation Centers in the University of Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic is an important step towards digital transformation. This will ensure maximum outreach to Bahrainis to start utilizing and embedding cloud technology within their organizations and institutions.”

Any public sector organization operating in Bahrain can submit their challenges for the new CICs through the UoB or Bahrain Polytechnic.
