Telecom giant Zain Bahrain has joined forces with Malaeb, a leading football community app in Bahrain, to launch the Kingdom’s first-of-its-kind football tournament later this year.

Dubbed “Zain Ramadan Tournament,” the three-day tournament will kick off on May 18, 2019.

32 Bahraini teams will participate in the football tournament, to be held in eight different stadiums across the country. The final match is scheduled on May 20 at Gravity in Zallaq.

The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of $5,000, which is to be followed by $2,500 to the first runner-up and $1,000 to the second runner-up. There will be separate cash prizes for the top players and the best goalkeeper.

This new Zain initiative falls in line with the company’s broader objective of executing its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, which in turn, helps it expand its influence throughout the Kingdom.

For the uninitiated, Malaeb is a promising homegrown startup that enables football clubs and enthusiasts to find and book football fields around them at affordable costs.
