Bahrain’s leading telecom giant, Zain Bahrain, has officially announced the launch of its homegrown 5G commercial services. This is indeed a milestone moment for the Kingdom’s burgeoning telecom sector as the arrival of 5G connectivity will unleash new opportunities for various innovative business models, while simultaneously unlocking opportunities for many sectors. 

Developed in collaboration with Swedish multinational networking and telecom heavyweight Ericsson, the new 5G network comes with super high-speed data, ultra-low latency, and superior reliability. 

It also comes packed with fast-evolving new-generation technologies such virtual reality, augmented reality, and internet-of-things (IoT).

With this 5G network gaining traction across the broader market, Zain Bahrain will find itself in a far better position to carry on with its mission transform industries and enhance people’s digital lives. 

Commenting on this new development on an enthusiastic note, Zain Bahrain CEO, Duncan Howard said, “Zain Bahrain’s 5G launch demonstrates our continuous commitment in investing in digitalization and the latest technologies for the benefit of our customers and playing our key role in the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030. Our dynamic partnership with Ericsson hasmade advanced 5G services a reality for Zain customers.”

Per the roadmap of Zain Bahrain, the telco will spend the rest of this year expanding 5G coverage throughout the Kingdom, following which it will focus on growing the network itself in 2021 and beyond.

As for Ericsson’s contribution to the project, Fadi Pharaon, President of the company’s Middle East and Africa, said: “We continue to work closely with Zain to expand the strategic partnership between our companies and support the commercial rollout of 5G across Bahrain.
