Excellent news for Saudi entrepreneurs who’re currently on the lookout for funding and global exposure! The German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO) has announced that the registration for the first German-Saudi Startup Competition is now open.

Interested participants can register for the competition by fetching details about their business models and products online. The last date for submission of registration forms is March 5.

The top-10 startups selected through the screening process will get the opportunity to pitch their business idea to the members of the local German Business Community and a jury panel comprising eminent personalities such as the German Ambassador Dieter W. Haller, GESALO Delegate Oliver Oehms, leading entrepreneurs, and investors.

The competition will be held on March 22 at the Rosh Rayhaan by Rotana Hotel in Riyadh. The winner and runner-up will receive a four-day startup tour in Germany during which they will be able to network with leading investors, potential partners, and other stakeholders in the startup ecosystem.

Additionally, they will also get the chance to pitch their business models at the MENA Business Forum in Berlin, scheduled on April 12.

“We offer young Saudi entrepreneurs a platform to connect with industry leaders, experienced investors, and potential new customers from Germany, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf region. Small and medium-sized companies and innovative business ideas are the key drivers of the German economy and a growing sector in Saudi Arabia. We intend to support young Saudi startups with our network and know-how,” said Oliver Oehms, Delegate of German Industry & Commerce for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Yemen.

Any Saudi-based startup founded in or after 2015 can participate in the first German-Saudi Startup Competition so long as they fall into the categories of social entrepreneurship or tech innovation. Click on the link here to register!
