Tamkeen extends support to suspended sectors for an additional six weeks

In implementation of the decisions of the Government Executive Committee headed byHis Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him,Bahrain’s Labour Fund ‘Tamkeen’announced the extension of support to sectors whose activities are still completely suspended due to precautionary measures to limit the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This is to be done for a period of six weeks, starting from the beginning of this ongoing April.

Impacted sectors within this category include entertainment sectors, including: recreational games stores, wedding, events and occasion halls, cinemas, and spas.

It is decided that the subsidy benefits will be disbursed within the “Business Continuity Support” program dedicated to enterprises impacted by the pandemic, and accordingly, the provided support period will be six weeks, starting from the beginning of April.

The extension of the financial support comes with the aim of covering a part of the operating expenses of these institutions — which registered their requests within the program’s first stage, in order to reap its benefits in accordance to the conditions and eligibility criteria for the program.

In this context, theCEO of the Labour Fund ‘Tamkeen’, Mr. Hussain Mohammad Rajab, explained that Tamkeen’s support for these sectors comes as part of the continuous national efforts to support private sector institutions directly affected by the repercussions of the pandemic.

It is also to actively contribute to facing the financial challenges besetting them, further emphasizing the role of Tamkeen as a partner for the success and growth of private sector enterprises; noting the essential role of these institutions in achieving the desired operating goals in line with the needs of the market and its economic challenges.
