Bahrain-based Majra has launched a sister-platform to bring new opportunities to the freelancer community in the Kingdom.
Dubbed ‘Gigs‘, the platform is currently in beta and might undergo some tweaks based on feedback from a select group of initial users.
Gigs is basically a freelancers marketplace, but with its own unique flavor. Users sign up on the platform and list their qualifications, skill sets, and the services they can offer.
Mahmood Zeyad, Co-Founder & CEO of Majra said in a conversation with StartUp Bahrain: “For freelancers, it’s a pretty straightforward process of signing up through our form. Once you’ve signed up, you’d have to undergo an orientation call with our team to go through the expectations, how work would happen, and what’s our role as Gigs in supporting you as a freelancer.”
In the backend, meanwhile, clients or employers share their requirements with the Gigs team and brief them on the particulars that they expect from their freelancers.
Based on all these info, Gigs shortlist the relevant freelancers that meet the employer’s requirements. These shortlisted freelancers can make their bids to the prospective clients. The prerogative of choosing the best bidder lies completely on the client.
When asked if Majra will remove all freelance job listings from its original job board, the company stated: “In most cases, yes, however, we might have some opportunities shared between the platform depending on the scope of the project and how many freelancers are needed.”
