The Chief Executive of the Labour Fund “Tamkeen” Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi inaugurated the Bahraini National Pavilion at Dubai’s GITEX 2019, with 60 Bahraini ICT companies and startups taking part in the pavilion.

Dr. Janahi hailed this participation, which comes in line with the significant growth of the supportive environment for technology in Bahrain, from advanced laws and regulations, to low-cost operating environment, and qualified and trained ICT talents.

Dr. Janahi, during Bahrain Pavilion opening ceremony, stressed the importance of the ICT sector in supporting economic development growth as well as increase productivity and accelerate the digital transformation efforts. 

Dr. Janahi also pointed out the role of this sector in providing quality job opportunities for citizens in emerging sectors such as cloud computing applications, AI, IoT, etc., especially with the grant and training support opportunities that Tamkeen is offering towards sustainability in innovative sectors.

For the 13th consecutive year, the pavilion is organized by the Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) and WorkSmart events management, in strategic partnership with the Labour Fund “Tamkeen”. 

Bahraini companies and startups are participating in Bahrain’s national pavilion at GITEX along with 4,800 exhibitors from 140 countries spread over 1.4 million square feet of exhibition space.

Chairman of BTECH Mr. Ubaydli Ubaydli, for his part, highlighted the importance of collaborative partnership among the private sector’s ICT institutions and the public sector’s organizations as well as the civil sector represented by BTECH. 

Mr. Ubaydli also praised Tamkeen’s continued support for the Bahrain National Pavilion at GITEX, which is one of the most important factors for its success and development.

“Synergizing the Mind and Technology Economy theme was inspired for the 39th edition of GITEX, allowing Bahraini companies to participate to promote the Bahrain ICT industry and enhance its competitiveness at a regional level.

More than 100,000 visitors from 140 countries are expected to visit GITEX this year, representing an opportunity to build business relationships with senior management, heads of government, influential buyers, and to communicate with the overall technology ecosystem at one place.

Visitors to GITEX will be able to learn about the services, products and innovations offered by Bahraini companies by visiting the Bahrain National Pavilion in Hall 2 and Za’abeel Hall of the exhibition.
