Bahrain sent a high-level business delegation to the RISE Hong Kong Conference that took place from July 9 to July 12. The event, widely recognized as one of the leading business and entrepreneurship events in Asia, presented an enticing opportunity for the Bahraini delegation to highlight the great feats achieved by the thriving startup community back home.
The delegation considered of representatives from the StartUp Bahrain community, including Tamkeen (labor fund), Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), startup accelerators C5 and Brinc, and the Ministry of Industry Commerce and Tourism. Throughout the event, the delegation focused on demonstrating the Kingdom’s growing technological innovation and entrepreneurial success. Additionally, there was also a dedicated pavilion to portray the various steps the public and private sectors in Bahrain have taken to boost the country’s startup ecosystem.
Speaking of the benefits of participating in events such as RISE Hong Kong, Tamkeen’s Chief Operations Officer Mr. Qusay Al Arayedh, said: “Attending such global event widens opportunities to learn from the best practices as well as showcase the Bahraini model of startup ecosystem and exchange expertise,” He added: “To ensure maximum exposure during this event, Tamkeen supported the participation of five startups, selected by a committee of specialists in the field of Information Technology and Communication.”
Meanwhile, John Kilmartin, Executive Director of ICT at the EDB, stated that the Bahraini delegation would be participating in two more events during their stay in Hong Kong. The first of these events will be hosted by startup accelerator Brinc, whereas the second will be hosted by corporate accelerator Nest.
