The American University of Bahrain has signed an MoU with Cisco to expand the Cisco Networking Academy in Bahrain and embed its curriculum at AUBH—a practical step toward stronger digital fluency and job-ready graduates.
Under the agreement, AUBH will integrate Cisco’s globally accredited Networking Academy coursework into degree programs, giving students structured training in computer networks and related next-generation technologies. The collaboration also opens access to Cisco’s instructional resources and digital learning tools through the NetAcad platform, so learners can build skills they can apply in labs, internships, and their first roles. Beyond courses, the MoU sets up a broader framework for institutional cooperation—updating teaching methods, investing in academic infrastructure, and creating pathways for joint research tied to emerging technologies such as networking, AI, and cybersecurity. A key component focuses on faculty: targeted professional development will support instructors in delivering the integrated content effectively and staying current with industry practice.
For students, the benefit is clear—hands-on exposure to a recognized curriculum, plus opportunities to engage directly with Cisco’s latest tools and learning environments. For the university, it’s a way to align classroom learning with employer needs in a sector where the pace of change is constant. The result is more graduates who can configure, analyze, and secure real systems, not just study them.
“This agreement with Cisco marks a milestone in our strategic efforts to enrich technical education in Bahrain’s higher education sector. It signals a transformative move towards innovative learning models that align with the digital era and contribute meaningfully to the Kingdom’s long-term development goals as outlined in Bahrain’s Vision 2030.”
