The Kingdom’s investing over $30 billion in infrastructure across strategic priority sectors to drive investment, advance infrastructure, create jobs, and boost economic growth and contribute towards the realization of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. They’re planning to achieve all of that in the following sectors:
- Creation of Five Cities
- Fasht al Jarim Area plan
- Suhaila Island Area plan
- Fasht al Adhm Area plan
- Gulf of Bahrain Area plan
- Hawar Islands Area plan
- Tourism sector
- Al Jazayer Beach (a tourist city), with public beaches and a walkway with a length of 1.2 km. It will host the Avani Bilak Al Jazayer Bahrain Resort and Tivoli Bilaj Al Jazayer Bahrain Resort.
- There’s also Jumeirah Bahrain Bay Resort and Spa with 207 rooms, 2 beaches and 5 swimming pools.
- Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre with 10 exhibition halls and centres with a capacity to hold 4,000 people.
- Education sector
- King Abdullah Medical City, a health complex including academic and medical facilities and research centres specialized in studying diseases, including cancer, diabetes and obesity.
- College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain. This project’s organizers are keen to ensure that the design is of the highest quality and is environmentally friendly. It will include new buildings for the Department of Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and Civil Engineering, Department of Architecture and Interior Design. They will provide a research environment that contributes to scientific research and developing engineering technologies and preparing students in various engineering fields.
- Housing projects
- Madinat Salman, a complex city that includes 12,000 housing units.
- East Hidd, which includes 5,000 housing units.
- East Sitra with 3,500 built housing units.
- Madinat Khalifa with 4,500 built housing units.
- Al Ramli District, complete building with 4,000 housing units.
- Government Land Development Programme that will be expanded over the coming years with 16,000 housing units in total estimation.
- Infrastructure and Telecommunications sector
- King Hamad Causeway, the second bridge linking the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the bridge’s length is estimated to be 25 km.
- Bahrain Metro, establishing a metro network covering all regions of Bahrain, and the metro’s length is estimated at 109 km.
- Future International Marine Fiber telecommunication projects, covering all regions of Bahrain with Broadband services, development of the international land and sea fiber optic lines, establish several data centres for cloud computing.
- Last but not least, Northern Road, which will provide transport corridors along the northern coast of Bahrain and it will be 22.5 km.
- Manufacturing sector
- Aluminum Downstream Zone that will attract local and foreign investment and increase the contribution of the non-oil sectors in general, as well as create quality job opportunities for citizens.
- Bapco Modernization Programme (BMP) is the largest industrial project in the history of Bahrain to increase the productivity, competitiveness and efficiency of the BAPCO oil refinery, and expand the processing capacity from 267,000 to 380,000 bpd.
- The US Trade Zone, advancing bilateral trade between the two countries, enhancing economic development, commercial and industrial cooperation, all the while creating quality job opportunities for citizens.
- Health sector
- Dilmunia Health Services Complex that’s estimated size is 16,665 sqm and it has been allocated for the hospital. A medical complex and clinic that provides healthcare services across various medical specialities located in the island of Dilmunia.
- King Hamad AMH Hospital, establishing a hospital in the A’ali area that includes all medical specialities and it will hold a capacity of 125 beds. Solar panels will be installed in the hospital with a target of providing the energy demands of 75%.
- Youth and Sport sector
Sport City is a project that will include building the largest sports stadium in the Kingdom, and it will include a multi-purpose sports hall, international standard football fields and athletics tracks. It will develop a commercial complex, including a hotel and shopping mall.
- The Investment Platform
An electronic platform to promote investment opportunities available in the Kingdom. Through the platform, investors can obtain integrated information about development and strategic projects available for investment, and also communicate with authorities responsible for those projects.
