The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) has announced it is hosting a special forum on Nov 1, 2018, to discuss and debate various issues pertaining to the role of Big Data in the tourism sector. Incidentally, that’s the same day when the 109th session of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Executive Council is scheduled to commence.

BTEA is hosting the forum in collaboration with the IE Business School and the UNWTO. Dubbed “UNWTO Tourism Tech Adventures: Big Data Solutions in Tourism,” the forum will see representatives from virtually all walks of life including government officials, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, investors, startups, and academics.

Like you can guess from the moniker itself, the forum will focus on strategic and impactful ways to stimulate innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship in the tourism sector. Additionally, the participants will also brainstorm to figure optimal ways to leverage the rich offering of Big Data to fuel the growth of the tourism sector.

“As a member of the UNWTO Executive Council for two terms of the General Assembly, which runs until 2021, it gives us great pleasure to host the ‘UNWTO Tourism Tech Adventures: Big Data Solutions in Tourism’ forum which gives attendees the opportunity to network and engage with key players of the international entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, Chief Executive at BTEA.

Among the key attractions of the event are a masterclass and a competition for startups in the tourism sector, as well as a Ministerial Masterclass and two panel-sessions to deliberate on the topics of Big Data Solutions in Tourism and Smart Tourism Management
