As the Gitex Technology Week 2018 (Dubai) inches in, 20 Bahraini entrepreneurs specializing in information technology have confirmed their participation in the mega event. But before we delve any deeper, take a brief walk down the memory lane to remind ourselves that the big day is less than a week apart.

For the uninitiated, the 2018 edition of Gitex is going to kick off on Oct 14 and run through Oct 18. The event will be held at the iconic Dubai World Trade Center, Dubai, in the presence of [presumably] thousands of attendees that include participating startups — both regional and global, prominent industry leaders, investors, and key individuals from various government departments among others.

To ensure that their participation goes as smooth as it can get, all 20 of the to-be Bahraini Gitex 2018 participants got together and consulted the Bahrain Technology Companies Society (Btech), the organizer of Pavillion.

Acknowledging that participating in events of Gitex’s stature could boost the confidence and capability of Bahrainis working the ICT sector, Tamkeen chief executive Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi said: “This participation comes in line with the national efforts to develop the ICT sector to increase its contribution to the GDP and encourage the growth of its institutions, along with qualifying Bahrainis,” he added that “It is a great opportunity for Bahraini entrepreneurs to participate in Gitex 2018 and the five-day Technology Summit that coincides with Gitex Future Stars,” said Btech chairman Ubaydli Ubaydli.
