In a press conference held by The National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19) on April 21, 2020, H.E. Zayed Al-Zayani, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism revealed the launch of a free website called ‘mall.bh’.

mall.bh is set to be live on Thursday, April 23, 2020. As its name suggests, the website aims to serve as a virtual mall to support businesses during these unprecedented times; creating electronic sales and purchases for all commercial stores in Bahrain.

The Minister assured in the press conference that the site will be a portal available to all businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to display their goods and services without any fee or money.

He reported that about 100 businesses have joined the site so far and that the door is open to all businesses.

He further explained that the goal of the website is to act as a link between all suppliers and consumers, as the Ministry aims to create an inclusive website to support all businesses; large, medium, and small enterprises.

Large enterprises might be on the more familiar end of e-commerce, having their own e-commerce websites and platforms long before COVID19, while some SMEs may currently be going through limited financial or managerial resources to launch their own. Further establishing the purpose of mall.bh; as it’s free for all shops to display and promote their goods and services.

The launch of mall.bh comes in line with the announcement of the temporary closing of stores to ensure safety during COVID19.
