The excellent work of the talented team of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the Kingdom of Bahrain has been highly valued during the annual CommsMEA Awards in Dubai. It won the first place in the category ”Regulatory Initiative of the Year 2017,” outperforming peer government agencies from Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the UAE.The award acknowledged the hard work of the TRA, Bahrain’s Telecommunications watchdog. During the past few years, it has been working on the CTI Risk Management Regulation to manage the risk to critical telecommunications infrastructure adequately. No similar legislation in this field existed in Bahrain previously, so the TRA had to write it from scratch. Its primary goal is to ensure the resilience of telecom services as they continue to be a significant player in the Kingdom’s digitalization.
Sponsored by industry leaders such as du, Huawei, Samena, and Sudatel, the 12th edition of the traditional CommsMEA Awards gathered under one roof telecommunication operators and individuals who have been active in the region’s fast developing and rapidly changing telecom sector. The event also honored companies that have already invested in modern technologies, or have implemented some winning tactics and offered services to attract the audience. Another important goal of the conference was to recognize those organizations which have actively worked towards turning the communication sector in the Middle East into one of the most dynamic and vibrant in the world.
