More than 100 would-be participants have registered for the BENEFIT FinTech Award Hackathon. To be held under the theme of “Open Banking,” the event is being organized by the Bahrain FinTech Bay in collaboration with the BENEFIT company and the Global Shapers Manama.
The Hackathon is open to university students representing a diverse range of disciplines including graphic designers, software developers, and business people.
The participants will be tasked with building a unique solution while simultaneously developing a commercial case around it. More specifically, they will be focusing on bridging the gap between corporate and FinTech enthusiasts by facilitating cutting-edge insights to modern-day innovations with the potential to leave a major impact on the financial sector.
The widely anticipated event will kick off on February 21 and span all week long before wrapping up on February 27.
On the first day, the participants will be given the opportunity to network with other stakeholders and pitch their innovative ideas. They will be required to band together in groups and come up with a strategic plan.
Up next, on February 22, they will focus primarily on executing the idea finalized on the previous day. The participants will then build the process using all the support and resources provided.
To ensure smooth functioning, the hackathon will be hosting a series of targeted workshops involving local mentors and experts who will share their invaluable insights with the participants.
The Final Award Ceremony will be held on February 27 at the Four Seasons Hotel where each group will pitch their final presentations to a panel of judges, accompanied by a 200+ strong audience.
The first-place winners will be awarded with BHD 2,000, along with three months of residency at Bahrain FinTech Bay, and direct entry to Flat6Labs Bahrain’s next bootcamp.
The first and second runner-ups will receive BHD 1,000 and BHD 500 respectively along with other perks.
