Bahrain FinTech Bay (BFB) has announced that labor fund Tamkeen is on board as a strategic partner for its global blockchain conference BlockOn 2018. To be held under the patronage of H.E. Khalid Al-Rumaihi, CEO of Bahrain Economic Development Board, the event will kick off on November 22, 2018, at the Wyndham Grand, Bahrain Bay. The timing of the event seems perfect considering the ongoing global push to induct blockchain as a vital instrument in the global financial apparatus.

Blockchain, the same technology that powers cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, is widely regarded as the next big thing in the realm of FinTech and financial services. And by the looks of it, Bahrain FinTech Bay wants to tap in on the potentially revolutionary technology at the earliest and leverage its rich offerings to reaffirm the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. “BlockOn 2018: Redefining Finance” is an important step in that direction.

The conference is expected to draw more than 300 global blockchain professionals and innovators along with a diverse group of entrepreneurs, investors, regulators, and business heads representing the financial services sector.

Tamkeen’s decision to join the event as a strategic partner will further strengthen the event’s impact on the ground because of the labor fund’s deep and intrinsic relationship with the Kingdom’s private sector. Tamkeen has long been one of the key proponents for private sector development, and it dedicates a big part of its resources to train and guide emerging homegrown businesses.

“Tamkeen’s work and objectives align strategically with the mission of BlockOn to help participating individuals and firms not only gain a better understanding of the power, uses and transformative nature of Blockchain and but also the opportunity to gain effective and practical training and skills to lead and innovate within their organizations,” said Khalid Saad, CEO of Bahrain FinTech Bay, while explaining the benefits of having Tamkeen as a strategic partner in BlockOn’s inaugural edition.
