Dubai Startup Hub launched the third edition of the Dubai Smartpreneur Competition late last week which is an initiative of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Dubai Startup Hub is organizing the event in collaboration with Smart Dubai, an organization dedicated to giving emerging startups and entrepreneurs in the UAE a chance to become part of the government’s plan to make the city a global hub for innovation-driven businesses.

Dubai Smartpreneur Competition 2018 was announced at a special launch event held at the Dubai Chamber headquarters and was attended by several prominent members of the country’s business and startup ecosystem.

This year, the competition is asking participants to come up with business ideas in any of the following three categories:

  • Blockchain
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Digital Transformation

All entries will be individually evaluated by a panel of expert judges to select the finalists. The startup teams that make it to the final round of the competition will be granted access to a series of extensive workshops, mentorships, sector-specific training, and network opportunities. The top-three finalists will be awarded cash prizes in addition to a chance to partake in other Dubai Startup Hub-sponsored entrepreneurship development programs and initiatives.

His Excellency Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice Chairman of Dubai Chamber, took to the stage during the launch event to highlight the Emirate’s ambitious plan to turn Dubai into one of the smartest cities in the world. He added that the Dubai Smartpreneur Competition brings the ideal opportunity to up-and-coming entrepreneurs to help the government turn that goal into reality.
