TechMix, an event dedicated to energy, circular economy, and smart transport solutions provided by UAE and Italian startups, went live in Dubai on November 8, 2018. The event was organized by Roland Berger in association with Intesa Sanpaolo. The conference aspires to serve as a key part of Dubai’s ongoing efforts to emerge a knowledge-based economy and global hub for innovations and smart technologies.
As expected, the event hosted by Dubai Startup Hub at Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s premises, attracted a number of high-profile attendees including Italian Ambassador to the UAE, Liborio Stellino, as well as representatives from Roland Berger, Intesa Sanpaolo, Hyperloop, Dark Matter, Careem, Google, and prominent members of the local business community. The conference primarily focused on the core issues of knowledge sharing and facilitating a platform for startups in UAE and Italy to collaborate.
Speaking of the success of the event and its impact on up-and-coming businesses from both countries, Kushal Shah, Head of Digital for the Middle East and Asia at Roland Berger, said, “As the GCC transitions towards knowledge-based economies embracing technology, the innovative spirit of the region was on full display at our recently concluded TechMix. At the end of the conference was a pitching competition closely contested between 10 startups from both countries. The competition saw participants offering their innovative business ideas and technological solutions to various challenges affecting smart transport, circular economy, and energy sectors.
