The Egyptian round of global seed-stage startup competition Seedstars World took place on Friday, May 4, 2018. Dubbed Seedstars Cairo, the event saw five early stage startups from Egypt flocking to the capital city to make a name for themselves in front of a very engaging audience, investors, industry heavyweights, potential business partners, and government representatives.
The five startups that were invited to demonstrate their business ideas and innovations were evaluated by a local jury panel, which later declared 7keema as the Seedstars Cairo winner.
7keema prides itself as a first-of-its-kind platform offering on-demand home nursing services in the Middle East. With this victory, the company has now earned a place for itself in the global chapter of the Seedstars Summit, to be hosted by Switzerland in April 2019. The Summit is a week-long training program that will bring 7keema the opportunity to network with 65 other winners, as well as mentors and investors from all over the world.
A pitch competition will be held on the final day of the event, the winner will earn a lucrative award of up to $1 million in equity investment. The competition is expected to attract more than 1,000 attendees.
“When our name was announced as the first winner, our hearts tended to jump out,” said Amr Bakr, CEO of 7keema.
He added, “This step comes to us on the right timing while we are opening a short round of funding and we are within the negotiations with angel investors and accelerator programs. Now we feel very comfortable and relaxed and are 100 percent certain that we will get the best valuation for our startup.”
