Egyptian startup Career 180 has received investment worth $100k in the company’s ongoing seed round. The funding came from EdVentures, the corporate VC arm of Nahdet Misr Publishing Group, founded in 2017 to help Egypt’s homegrown companies grow.
Announcing this latest development, Career 180 stated the new fund will help the company further improve its online platform.
For those of you not familiar with the startup, Career 180 offers an integrated and diversified platform designed to assist youngsters to choose rewarding career paths in accordance with their skills and interests. To achieve that goal, the company regularly organizes career advising workshops across Egypt.
Some of Career 180’s major offline career-centric initiatives include the Egypt Career Summit, regional and national career marathons, as well as several startups and corporate summer internship programs.
Commenting on EdVentures’ decision to lead Career 180’s seed round, Dalia Ibrahim, CEO of Nahdet Misr Publishing House, stated: “We constantly aim at empowering youth, and that’s why we are keen to keep collaborating with Career 180 and investing in the startup to help them expand their valuable services. This will enable youth to develop their skills and capabilities to meet market needs.”
Meanwhile, Shrouk Alaa and Mohamed Akmal, co-founders of Career 180, acknowledged EdVentures’ contribution to the company’s cause and stated that the strategic partnership between the two entities will further benefit students and young professionals to secure better job opportunities in Egypt and abroad.
