The inaugural bootcamp by Flat6Labs Bahrain wrapped up with a bang earlier this month. Held from May 6 – 10, with more than 150 startups from 30 countries applied to be a part of this boot camp, of which, only 14 were shortlisted. Representatives from 14 startups from Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland undergoing a week-long extensive training program and workshops.
The boot camp also witnessed active participation from the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), Tamkeen, KPMG, Newton Consult, and Kromatic. Using the input from all these organizations, the boot camp focused on providing the 14 startups a clear pathway for developing their skills and mastering the ideal ways of running a lean startup.
Bahrain EDB, for example, gave them an in-depth overview of the business opportunities in Bahrain. Similarly, Tamkeen highlighted the invaluable support — financial or otherwise — that they provide to startups in Bahrain.
Towards the end of the bootcamp, the founders of all 14 participating startups appeared before a selection committee for delivering their final pitches using a presentation. The selection committee comprised of Flat6Labs board members, alongside senior stakeholders representing key partners.
The selection committee will evaluate the performance of each startup before picking the most promising among them for Flat6Lab’s first cycle, scheduled to kick off in July 2018 and the shortlisted startups will also receive $30,000 in cash funding. Other key perks include access to more than 300 regional and international mentors and legal support.
