The names of the 20 startups participating in the Misk 500 Accelerator are finally out as the program enters the last leg. In case you missed our earlier coverage on the partnership, 500 Startup and Misk Foundation had teamed up once again earlier this year to launch the second edition of their joint startup accelerator program.
Just like the inaugural edition of the program, Misk 500 Accelerator 2.0 is aiming to provide participants with all the knowledge and insights into growth hacking techniques that actually work.
We have exciting news, two of our very own Bahraini startups are participating in the second cohort, Telp and Akalati!
For those not familiar, Telp is an app that offers academic support through tutoring and academic program bookings, and Akalati is a food app marketplace for parties, events, and gatherings.
The program includes mentors and experts from all over MENA and beyond, across industries and sectors, to help emerging businesses excel in the art of sustainable growth.
The participants in the second cohort include startups from Bahrain, Egypt, Jorda, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Together, these companies cover a wide range of industries and sectors including FinTech, IoT, AI, robotics, HealthTech, EdTech, messaging and communications, and SaaS.
In addition to extensive training and mentorship, each participant is entitled to investments worth $50k from 500 Falcons, the regional fund of 500 Startups.
Speaking on the occasion, Osama AlRaee, Director of Entrepreneurship at Misk Innovation, stated: “At Misk Innovation, we believe that innovation is vital for the future of humanity, creating a path to economic prosperity. With this vision in mind, our work focuses on transforming Saudi Arabia into a global hub for purpose-driven technology and innovation, both by supporting the next generation of Saudi innovators, as well as attracting global talent to the region.”
Meanwhile, Sharif El-Badawi, Managing Partner, of 500 Startups MENA, chipped in saying: “At 500 Startups, we are excited to host our flagship MISK 500 Accelerator program in partnership with Misk Innovation in Saudi Arabia for the second time. As the region’s largest economy, the kingdom is a strategic market for us and for the MENA region. It’s strong government support, its inherent market dynamics and its young population structure is a testament to the robust buildup of its rapidly growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
The 20 startups participating in the Misk 500 Accelerator program include:
