Hyperloop Transporation Technologies (Hyperloop TT), the American research company that aims to revolutionize public transport using its innovative technology, has confirmed its maiden venture in the Middle East. The company announced last week that it would commence the construction of a commercial Hyperloop track in Abu Dhabi sometime during Q3 2019.
In addition to the commercial track, the company has also promised an “XO Square Innovation center” along with a “Hyperloop Experience Center” in the capital city of the UAE. “The construction site is located in Aldar’s Seih Al Sdeirah landbank in Abu Dhabi and in close proximity to the residential development Alghadeer. It is conveniently located on the border of the Emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, close to the Expo 2020 site and Al Maktoum International Airport,” the company announced in a press release.
Hyperloop TT has reportedly received an investment from Dar Al-Handasah, an international design group, for its Abu Dhabi venture. Per this agreement between the two companies, Dar Al-Handasah will provide assistance with the construction of the Hyperloop TT commercial track and the peripheral buildings. The technology for development, cost management, architecture, and engineering will be provided by a number of firms in the US, the UK, and Spain.
Hyperloop TT’s announcement follows the April 2018 acquisition of a construction site where UAE’s state-controlled real-estate developer Aldar Properties was a stakeholder.
