The Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) has announced that registrations for the revamped eKey 2.0 app surpassed 13,000 within just one day of its official launch, marking a significant milestone in Bahrain’s digital transformation journey.
Public Engagement and Digital Adoption
Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of iGA, highlighted that the strong adoption of the eKey 2.0 app reflects Bahrain’s advanced digital culture and the public’s growing reliance on modern technologies to access government and private sector services seamlessly. He emphasized that these promising figures align with iGA’s commitment to implementing digital transformation strategies, as part of the Government Programme 2023–2026, which aims to:
- Enhance digital services and improve accessibility
- Modernize government systems and channels
- Adopt cutting-edge technologies to enhance user experience while maintaining top-tier security standards
Secure and Seamless Access to Digital Services
Developed in collaboration with Beyon Connect, a subsidiary of the Beyon Group, the Revamped eKey 2.0 app enables users to securely authenticate their digital identity, granting access to both government and private sector eServices. Key features of the app include:
- Password-less login using facial recognition
- Third-party authorization for seamless transaction completion
- Enhanced data control, allowing users to approve or restrict data sharing based on consent
