Mumtalakat and Tamkeen have named Parcel and Procural as winners of the second Startup of the Year competition, highlighting Bahrain’s commitment to growing its homegrown ventures.
At an awards ceremony attended by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and other senior officials, the competition celebrated two Bahraini startups whose innovations promise to boost the local economy. Parcel, which offers logistics solutions for households and small businesses, and Procural, a cloud-based tender platform connecting buyers with diverse suppliers, were chosen for their scalable models and market potential. This initiative gives founders not only capital investment from Mumtalakat but also hands-on support to accelerate growth and compete regionally.
Shaikh Salman noted that private-sector entrepreneurs are key to Bahrain’s economic development and global competitiveness, and he praised both winners for their creative approaches. He reaffirmed the government’s focus on programs that help startups thrive, from regulatory sandboxes to targeted funding schemes. This competition builds on last year’s Startup Bahrain Pitch rounds, where six live-pitch events and mentorship tracks produced a pipeline of finalists ready for investment.
“The objective is to invest in promising local ventures that contribute to national economic growth and strengthen Bahrain’s position as a regional centre for innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Mumtalakat.
