Press Release.
Qubiot Remote, a smart home device startup, has launched the first all-in-one universal smart home remote that does not require internet connection and is suitable for all smart home devices. It is the first device that integrates with all existing smart home protocols on the market and operates without Wi-Fi, solving existing issues of privacy, security, and usage interruptions, as well as helping users to save up to 10% of electricity consumption.
The remote will be launched through a Kickstarter campaign, which is set to go live on August 31st, 2023.
Qubiot’s release comes at a time when the need for stringent data protection regulations are desperately needed, something evidenced by Amazon recently being fined more than $30 million for customer privacy breaches. The Qubiot Remote control connects to devices via Bluetooth, and simplifies the user experience by eliminating the need for multiple control devices including additional equipment such as garages and gates controllers.
Dmitry Lukin, founder and CEO of Qubiot Remote, first came up with the idea of creating a functional universal remote when he was away on a business trip, and his wife called him to explain that the lights at their smart home were not working, which turned out to be due to a problem with the central panel. This small issue alone caused the entire smart home system to switch off, and the problem led Lukin to conduct extensive research and ultimately to the development of Qubiot Remote.
Unlike other solutions, Qubiot Remote has also shown a 10% decrease in energy usage across devices such as air conditioners. The device integrates seamlessly with various smart home ecosystems, supporting the Matter protocol along with 12 existing integrations including Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Athom Homey and more. Through fundraising platform Kickstarter, backers can obtain a Qubiot Remote from $79 (Super Early Bird Backers), with the prices gradually going up to $89 (Early Birds) and then to $99 (Kickstarter Backers). Production is expected to begin in Q1 2024, with the first remotes delivered to backers in Q2 2024.
“The initial idea came to the surface through the shared dissatisfaction that myself and my team shared with our own personal smart home devices. We set out on a mission to simplify our smart homes while knowing that we can improve our energy usage and no longer have to worry about privacy issues. The first Qubiot Remote will be available for 100,000 users in 2024 and over 1,000,000 will be available for preorders,” said Dmitry Lukin, Qubiot Remote 1, DL Founder & CEO.
Serial entrepreneur Dmitry Lukin brings over 15 years of entrepreneurial expertise to the table, having previously successfully launched three startups, and also playing a pivotal role in introducing music services in collaboration with industry giants iTunes and Universal Music Group.
The Qubiot team shares a common goal: to revolutionize the way that the world interacts with their devices. Having the potential to be the first IoT device on the market, the team at Qubiot have carefully considered each element of Qubiot Remote to ensure that it delivers maximum speed, reliability and quality performance.
