Tamkeen and the Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) have agreed to deepen collaboration on ICT training and support—timely news for founders looking to scale with local tech talent and smarter adoption of emerging tools.

In a meeting between Tamkeen chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa and BTECH chairman Tariq Qassim Fakhroo, both sides outlined joint initiatives that will help Bahraini tech firms lift their GDP contribution and sharpen competitiveness abroad. Tamkeen says its current strategy prioritises modern-tech uptake, funding schemes that let enterprises trial AI, cloud, and cybersecurity solutions while creating high-quality jobs for nationals. BTECH, which routinely runs sector events and overseas delegations, plans to channel that support to startups and SMEs needing market access, standards guidance, or investor introductions.

ICT already ranks among Bahrain’s fastest-growing non-oil segments, and the Economic Recovery Plan sets out bigger goals: more high-value exports, higher Bahrainisation in tech roles, and a stronger pipeline of R&D-driven companies. By pairing Tamkeen’s financial incentives with BTECH’s industry network, the partnership aims to fast-track proof-of-concept pilots and shorten time-to-market for local software and hardware products. Fakhroo added that stronger alignment will help the society mentor founders on pricing, compliance, and cross-border sales—areas that often stall early-stage growth.

“Tamkeen’s strategy includes supporting the adoption of modern technologies and their application to projects and businesses. This will accelerate the growth of Bahraini enterprises and enhance their competitiveness.”
