Come October 12, more than 1,500 entrepreneurs, innovators, small and medium businesses, home-based businesses, and economists from all over the Middle East and beyond will get together in Bahrain to celebrate the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2018. In total, more than 6,500 attendees are expected to take part in the celebrations which will see contributions from Tamkeen and 25 other public and private sector organizations.
The name itself speaks for the event — Global Entrepreneurship Week is a truly global event participated by more than 160 countries across the world. Organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network and powered by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, GEW 2018 Bahrain aims to accomplish multiple objectives during the course of the week-long event encompassing a slew of activities.
GEW 2018 will be particularly focused on uplifting the morale and infrastructure powering the Kingdom’s business community. It aims to specifically target Bahraini individuals with a knack for innovation and empower them to turn their ideas into reality. Besides that, the various activities throughout the event will be geared towards spreading out the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as the awareness surrounding new career choices other than the regular 9-5 jobs.
Overall, the event is another important step towards helping the country’s business community to prepare itself for the goals set as part of Bahrain’s Vision 2030.
Speaking of Tamkeen’s participation in the event, the labor fund’s CEO Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi recently commented: “As the world is marking the 10th anniversary of this international event, our celebration of the GEW emphasizes the leading role of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the different international events and initiatives aimed at boosting economic development and entrepreneurship.”
Worth noting here is that GEW 2018 is coinciding with Bahrain’s preparations for the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, scheduled to take place in April 2019.
