UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology is taking steps to promote sustainability by launching a global competition called Make it in Emirates Start-up Competition for tech startups. From May 31 to June 1, the competition will select 24 startups to participate which provides an excellent platform for tech startups to meet investors and network with policymakers and industry partners.

To be eligible for participation, the startups must focus on sustainability and decarbonisation, as per a report by Zawya. The judging panel will comprise representatives from various organizations, including Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Technology Innovation Institute, Aspire, EDGE Group, Dubai Industrial City, UAE University, and Strata.

Make it in the Emirates is an initiative launched in 2022 aimed at attracting investors, industrialists, and innovators to the UAE and leveraging the country’s competitive advantages. The competition is part of a broader set of initiatives launched under this umbrella, and it has already resulted in agreements worth $29 billion (approx AED 110 billion).

The startup competition is an exciting opportunity for tech startups to showcase their sustainability-focused innovations, collaborate with policymakers and industry partners, and gain potential investors.
