A new wave of investment coming from Saudi-based boutique consulting firm, Pure Consulting, has made Egyptian food-tech startup Yumamia one of the best-funded emerging businesses on its home turf.

With this success of the ongoing Pre-Series A round, the Cairo-based startup has now accumulated funding worth $2.8 million.

For those unfamiliar with the company, Yumamia was founded in 2014 by Belal El Borno with the vision of delivering junk-free, wholesome food at an affordable cost. All food items coming from the company are prepared by professional chefs using the best and healthiest of ingredients. Special care is taken to maintain optimal hygiene standards.

Following the initial success with health-conscious foodies in Cairo, Yumamia recently rolled out a new B2B unit that looks after corporate catering. Employees of companies that enter an agreement with Yumamia can order their daily lunch from the food-tech startup. All orders and associated costs can be tracked by the company’s HR/Operations unit using a dedicated dashboard.

Additionally, the company also serves a franchise-like model for local food-and-beverage outlets under which these outlets operate using their existing resources while strictly maintaining Yumamia’s recipes and overall standard.

Now that the company has the financial side covered following the latest pre-Series A round, it is planning on expanding to Riyadh by the end of this year and possibly to other Saudi cities as well somewhere down the line.
