Last week, Forbes Middle East held its 3rd Innovator Award ceremony for startups and investors in Dubai at the Oberoi Hotel, where a number of prominent startups and investors from all around the Middle East were invited to recognize and support the entrepreneurial spirit in the MENA region.

The StartUp Bahrain community is happy to announce that Skiplino, a Bahraini cloud-based queue management system founded by Zaman AH. Zaman, Alharith Alatawi, and Ricardo Gasper have received an award for being one of the 15 innovative startups in the entire MENA region. “The Forbes Middle East Award Ceremony gave us more recognition and international exposure, and it actually pushes us to work harder and do better,” Zaman tells us.

According to Zaman, being awarded at the Forbes Middle East Ceremony doesn’t only provide recognition and exposure to their startup Skiplino, but it also showcases how Bahrain is turning into a hub that promotes and supports the startup ecosystem. Zaman says that “it puts us and Bahrain on a map. People are realizing now that Bahrain has the perfect ecosystem for you to launch your startup.”

Skiplino did not only win an award for being one of the most innovative startups, but it was also amongst the list compiled by Forbes Middle East of the 100 Startups in the Arab World with the most innovative ideas and most external funding received within the last year.

Forbes Middle East also compiled two other lists: one listing the 50 Most Active Investors in the Arab World – which included Wamda Capital, MEVP, Bahrain’s Tenmou, and Flat6Labs amongst others; while the second lists 50 Startups to Watch in the Arab World for startups that haven’t received “big-ticket funding” yet but sure do look promising for the future – which includes UrbanBuz, Boxit, Bahrain’s uTrackTV and more.
